GreyPower is a voluntary organization founded in 1986 to protest the imposition of a surcharge on NZ Superannuation. Although the surcharge was the original reason for forming the group, activities were also taking place in the areas of health, electricity charges, human rights, publicity, social services, local bodies and law, order and justice.
Grey Power is a Advocacy Organization promoting the welfare and well-being of all those citizens in the 50 plus age group. Our mission is to be the appropriate voice for all New Zealanders.
Each area association represents the views and aspirations of the local citizens.
GreyPower brings the issues affecting their members to the attention of government, both local and national, and to the wider public in the local press. They also produce a newsletter quarterly with items of local interest.
