WHAKATANE Bird Club host its annual bird show over Queen’s Birthday weekend every year. With up to 600 entries expected from around the North Island.
Bird club publicity officer Sylvia Lawson said bird owners and judges were travelling from Auckland, Gisborne, Waikato, Wanganui and Taranaki to Kawerau, where the event will be run in the town hall.
Birds catered for include Canaries: Yorkshire, Norwich, Border, Colour Fed and Non Colour Fed, Closter, Lizard and Roller. Budgerigars, Bengalise and Zebra Finches.
British Birds include Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Thrushes, Blackbirds and Sparrows.
Lovebirds and a foreign section which includes exotic Finches, Parakeets, Doves, Quail and Parrots.
