Rotary

Rotary is a worldwide organisation of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. The Rotary Club of Kawerau was formed in 1960 and the Charter meeting was held on June 10, 1961, with 24 foundation members.

Rotarians meet twice a month for fellowship and interesting and informative programmes dealing with topics of local and global interest.

The Kawerau Club meets at 5.30pm each 1st and 3rd Wednesday, at "Jive Cafe", at the traffic lights, Kawerau. The meeting begins at 6pm. Typically the meeting finishes about 7.30pm.

Rotarians plan and carry out a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange projects that improve people's lives at a local and international level.
