The recreation centre is a modern, multi-functional facility with a large parking area. This substantial stadium is excellent for indoor sporting events, exhibitions and large entertainment functions and is used year-round. Badminton, basketball and volleyball are among the sporting codes that make good use of the centre. It is also hired out for one-off events such as the New Zealand Darts Championships and a concert by international singer John Rowles, (who was born and raised in Kawerau and now lives in the US).
It has a mezzanine level, an additional large meeting room and a kitchen. There is tiered seating for 360 people.
The building is available for hire on a regular or casual basis.
