Weight On My Shoulders

Weight On My Shoulders event in Kawerau, 17 August 2019

August 17th 2019 we will be holding a fund raising event in honour of our fallen, Luke Tamatea.
The vehicle in which he was travelling in was hit by an IED explosive device while on deployment in Afghanistan August 19 2012, killing him and two of his fellow soldiers.
This year our whanau have decided August 17 will be the time to hold a fundraising event supporting ‘NO DUFF’.
So who is NO DUFF?
‘No Duff’ is a registered charity committed to providing immediate support for veterans in need.
Our plan for the day:
To honour our fallen soldiers we are going to gear up for a 10km walk/run 'Military style’.
What does that look like?
A typical day patrol pack for our soldiers weighs approximately 25kg.
The challenge is to carry the same weight that our soldiers carried while on tour in Afghanistan.
The distance is a 10km walk within Kawerau.
