Freedom camping in Kawerau is in a class of its own. Kawerau offers 16 powered sites for self-contained motor homes and 2 dump station facilities with 24 hour access.

Camping Sites

Prideaux Park

Prideaux Park is the most widely used site because of it’s central location. It is a short stroll to town, the Kawerau i-SITE and also Kawerau’s free hot pools.

Prideaux Park also has power access and a dump station facility. A key for the power can be picked up from the Kawerau i-SITE for a $25.00 bond, which is returned once the key is returned.

Powered sites are free for the first 3 nights, and then just $10.00 per night after that.

Kawerau Adventure Hub (Firmin Field)

Kawerau Adventure Hub is located across the road from Waterhouse Street Reserve, and has 12 powered sites and a dump station facility. It is Kawerau’s newest self-contained camping facility.

Boyce Park, Stoneham Park and Waterhouse Street Reserve

The reserves are available for use by organised groups in fully self contained motor vehicles. The Kawerau District Council will arrange to open the gates when campers arrive ad lock them again when they leave. To allow arrangements to be made, campers are requested to give the Council prior notice of the date and time of their expected arrival and to notify the Council when they leave.
